INTRODUCTION
The Salton Sea is in transition. Once, abundant birds visited its shoreline on their migration routes, which, in turn, brought birders and photographers from around the world. Today, species seen, and their numbers, are changing due to environmental and political issues. However, the Salton Sea is not dead! Join Sandy on this eye-opening journey around California’s largest inland lake and experience the cultures, bird life and restoration projects which surround it.
This photo workshop will provide participants an opportunity to photograph winter migrating birds, waterfowl and many of the comical, resident burrowing owls throughout the valley. We'll see snow and Ross's geese, sandhill cranes to the smaller least sandpiper, American avocet and so many more. Click HERE to see eBird's most current list of birds on the refuge. Wildlife is always unpredictable but we will get you to the best spots for the best photo opportunities. Bring a long and fast lens 400mm or larger.
This workshop welcomes all photography skill levels and includes photographic instruction, individual attention, an enthusiastic leader and lots of birds. An understanding of basic photography principles is recommended but we welcome new birders too.
Come experience the birds and sunny Southern California!
